Photos - Bahrain International Solidarity Day marked in Australia

In solidarity with the people of Bahrain, tens of people gathered in Australia to commemorate 14 February an international day to support democracy in Bahrain on the second anniversary of the Bahraini pro-democracy revolution.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On the second anniversary of the Bahraini peaceful pro-democracy revolution, the Arabic and Muslim communities in Australia participated in a demonstration outside the Fedral Parliament in the organized by The Bahraini Australian Youth Movement in Canberra.

The demonstrators chanted against the oppressive policies of the Bahraini regime and the interference of the Saudi regime in Bahrain and demanded a stop to the Bahraini regime's terror against the unarmed people of Bahrain. The Bahraini and Australasian flags were raised in the protest with pictures of Bahraini martyrs.   

Activists and clerics spoke at the protest condemning the regime in Bahrain for its ongoing abuses and violations on a daily basis, as well as its demolishing of mosques and absolute disrespect to sanctities. The speakers also demanded the Australian government to condemn the Bahraini regime which is ongoing with its violations in total disregard to the international community.   

Al-Ghadeer Youth Society presented a play based on a real story broadcasted on youtube, and which showed how torture and terror is practiced by the Bahraini forces.   

Press Conference

During this demonstration, a  press conference was held inside the Parliament, in which  Federa MP  Lee Rinon of the Green Party participated, as well as Federal MP Larry Vergason of the Labor party and Lee Thomas Head of Australian Nurses Union and the activist, Alawi Albladi, who was stripped of his nationality by the Bahraini regime for criticizing  of the regime on Twitter.

The aim of the press conference was to come out with a recommendation for the Federal Parliament to condemn the Bahraini regime for its violations of human rights.
 
The protest outside the Parliament marched to the UN offices demanding the UN to end its silence and condemn the regime in Bahrain. The Australian Bahraini Youth Movement delivered a letter to the UN office in Australia, in which Ms.Julia Dean demanded to end the killings in Bahrain and to pressurize the Bahraini regime to conduct a serious dialogue that can achieve the aspirations of the people of Bahrain.
