Bahrain: Masses fill Freedom Square, ongoing protests till demands are fulfilled

Within the ongoing popular uprising, masses in Bahrain gathered at freedom square in Mugshaa', west of the Capital Manama, marking the second anniversary of the "Pearl revolution" that erupted in Bahrain on 14 February, 2011.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The mass rally that took place on Saturday evening (9th February, 2013) was titled "Democracy is our goal" and was organized by the national opposition parties. Bahrainis there, chanted slogans that stress on their legitimate demands for real democracy by enabling the people to manage their country’s affairs and ensuring that the people are the source of all powers.

The protesters also raised pictures of prisoners of conscience who are held by the regime as hostages, and who the protesters called "hostages of pride" because the regime is using them as hostages for the political solution.

During the rally, Al-Wefaq Deputy Secretary General honored Akeel Abdul-Muhsin, who survived a serious birdshot injury to the face. The youth was fired at by the regime mercenaries who brutally assaulted him. Some Bahraini youth who attended the rally at Freedom Square raised a big banner that read “We love you” to the injured Akeel Abdul-Muhsin.

The poet Ali Ghareeb participated with a revolutionary poem before a national song sung by Yousif Al-Asheeri.
