(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The protesters criticized the silence of western countries, including Britain, over the Bahraini regime’s human rights abuses, calling on the west to end its support for the dictatorship.
The demonstrators who were carrying pictures of those who were killed or politically imprisoned during anti-regime uprisings in Bahrain, also chanted slogans condemning the west’s arms sales to the regime.
The rally was held on Thursday in solidarity with the Bahraini revolution as part of the Bahrain Revolution Week just ahead of the second anniversary of the uprising in the tiny Persian Gulf country on February 14.
Bahrainis launched pro-democracy protests in 2011, demanding political reform and a constitutional monarchy.
Later, however, the demand changed to a call for an end to the rule of the Al-Khalifa family over the country after the regime began its brutal crackdown on popular protests.
