(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The opposition assures its seriousness to engage in a genuine process of dialogue and political negotiation that responds to the aspirations of freedom, dignity and equality. These aspirations stem from the legitimate demands raised by the political majority of the people of Bahrain in the 14 February revolution that started in 2011 to transit to a modern democratic civil state that enables the people of sovereignty and to be the source of all powers as stated in the Manama Document.
The opposition hopes that this invitation for dialogue is an honest and serious one, unlike previous invitations. However, the opposition will not prejudge this dialogue before it starts, yet, it stresses that any real and serious dialogue must include consensus on the dialogue's participants, agendas, decision-making mechanism as well as a specified timeline as to its start and end.
The dialogue must also meet legitimizing requirements either through a referendum or a constitutive council in order to enable the people of sovereignty and the final say in accepting or rejecting outcomes, in accordance to international standards.
Consensus on a clear and prompt timeline is crucial to execute agreements via a joint and agreed-upon body along with substantial guaranties. The fundamental matter lies in negotiation outcomes and how achievable they are on ground. The opposition shall continue to stand for the legitimate popular demands. Its engagement in any negotiation process or dialogue aims to achieve these demands and build a democratic political system which fairly represents the people in all legislative, executive, judicial and security authorities, and provide security, equality and real participation along with prosperity and sustainable development for Bahrain.
The opposition will spare no effort in media, politics, human rights and negotiation in its ongoing work to fulfill the just demands of the people of Bahrain. The opposition aims to build for a democratic and stable Bahrain of no political prisoners, political and security unrest and discrimination. A democratic Bahrain that enables the people to manage their affairs and paves the way for economic development on stable political ground.
