Bahrain Police fire tear gas at peaceful protesters

Saudi-backed security forces have attacked anti-regime protesters across Bahrain as crackdown on peaceful protests continues in the Persian Gulf country.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Bahraini regime forces fired tear gas and stun grenades at protesters and arrested several demonstrators including women on Friday."Down (King) Hamad," chanted the protesters in the narrow alleys of central Manama.Separate demonstrations also were held in villages outside Manama were protesters burned tires to demonstrate their opposition with ruling Al Khalifa regime. Since mid-February 2011, thousands of pro-democracy protesters have staged numerous demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain, calling for the Al Khalifa royal family to relinquish power.The regime promptly launched a brutal crackdown on the protests and called in forces from neighboring Persian Gulf states to help quell the demonstrations.Scores of people have been killed and hundreds more arrested by regime forces.Bahraini protesters say they will continue holding demonstrations until their demands for the establishment of a democratically elected government and an end to violations of rights are met. /129
