National Opposition Parties: Verdicts against figures are void, elected Government is the exit to the crisis

The opposition parties stressed that the verdicts issued against the national political figures are void and have no lawful significance and said that an elected government, with a full-power parliament through transparent and fair elections, and national security services, independent and fair judiciary.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The national opposition parties in Bahrain stressed that the verdicts issued against the national political figures are void and have no lawful significance as they stand on retaliation ground and are issued by a politicized judiciary which lacks fairness and neutrality.

In a final communiqué of a massive popular protest in rejection to the issued verdicts, and which was titled "We'll continue till demands are met" on Saturday 12 January, the opposition parties stressed that the verdicts prove the legitimacy of the popular demands of the people of Bahrain and which an independent and fair judiciary is one of.

The opposition parties indicated that such verdicts, which stretch to 25 years against political figures are to punish them for reasons relating to freedom of expression and opinion, are used as a political tool against dissidents, as described by many international organizations. The Higher commissioner for human rights described it "political persecution" while Amnesty International described it as " Travesty of justice".

The opposition stressed again that democratic transition and an end to the dictatorship, which is the root of all problems and the cause of recession, stealing public money, absence of security and the drawback of the country.

The opposition parties said that an elected government, with a full-power parliament through transparent and fair elections, and national security services, independent and fair judiciary. These are the real demands that can lead to build a real state instead of the current feudalism.
