Radio Programs in Promoting Islamic Culture in Gambia

The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), jointly with the Khartoum-based Munazzamat Al-Da’awa Al-Islamyya, is holding a sub-regional training session on “the Use of Media in Da’awa and Promoting Islamic Culture in West Africa.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Broadcasting as Case in Point", in Banjul, Gambia, over the period from 27 through 29 December.

 Specialists in Da’wa and guidance from Burkina Faso, Cote d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Senegal and Gambia will take part in the training.

 The training session will seek to improve methods of disseminating Islamic values through the media, particularly via broadcasting, promote a culture of peace and contribute to fostering dialogue among civilizations, cultures and religions, addressing Islamophobia, developing the knowledge and expertise of trainees with regard to the preparation of specialized radio programs, and expanding regional cooperation between the participating countries in the area of Da’awa-oriented media.

 The agenda of the training features various theoretical presentations on the resources used in Da’awa, and the role of audiovisual media in developing Islamic culture. In the same vein, a round table on the use of radio broadcasting in preaching will be organized to discuss the problems of society from an Islamic perspective.
