(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On Sunday night, regime forces attacked demonstrators who had thronged the streets in several towns and villages, chanting slogans against King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Tens of thousands of protesters also held demonstrations against the decades-long rule of the Al Khalifa royal family across Bahrain on Saturday.
Anti-regime demonstrations continue in Bahrain despite a government ban on public gatherings.
The Bahraini uprising began in mid-February 2011. Scores have been killed and hundreds more have been detained ever since.
On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were sent to Bahrain to assist the Manama regime in its crackdown on peaceful protests.
A report published by the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry in November 2011 found that the Al Khalifa regime had used excessive force in the crackdown, criticizing Manama for torturing political activists, politicians, and protesters.
Bahrainis say they will continue holding anti-regime demonstrations until their demand for the establishment of a democratically-elected government is met.
