New book assesses Competition Law in Shi’a Jurisprudence

‘Competition Law in Shi’a Jurisprudence and the Law in Iran and the EU’ has been released in Iran. The book identifies the values governing Islamic market and reviews the stance of Shi’s school of thought on competition.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Mehdi Rashvand Boukani, the book’s writer, asserted that he assessed competition law based on Shi’s Jurisprudence in his book. “The law is based on a collection of values and ideals held by followers of the free economy precept,” he said.

“They believe that a desired market is in line with such values and in case a market is devoid of these values it is doomed to fail,” he added. “The followers of such school of thought maintain that low legal competency of the society is the cause of such deficiencies in the market. Therefore, the market law has been devised to preserve values in the market.”

A member of the scientific board of the International Imam Khomeini University went on to say that he sifted through Shi’a resources to find market values in the Islamic society and highlighted them in his work.

1,500 copies of the book’s first print are released by Imam Sadegh University Press in Tehran.
