(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al-Wefaq Islamic National Society condemns the outrageous behaviour and moral downfall of the regime's official behavior when provoking the people's feeling by targeting their religious rituals. The regime forces , who are mostly non-Bahrainis and have been brought to confront the people by killing and assaulting them, have been exploited to deliberately attack an mourning procession in Nuwaidrat area Sunday afternoon .
Al-Wefaq added that such policy used against the religious rituals in Bahrain will not bring any good to the country and cannot reflect any good intentions but will take the country to more troubles, conflict and drawback.
Al-Wefaq stressed that the such behavior had been undertaken by the regime since the first of Ashura till today by attacking the mourning procession in Nuwaidrat. Such behavior reveals the bad intentions against the rituals and against those who exercise them and it proves that the regime cannot coexist peacefully with its own people.
Al-Wefaq said that what has happened and is happening is under observation of the international community as well as the United Nations. The people of Bahrain are facing a vindictive campaign that is targeting their religious freedoms which they have exercised for more than hundreds of years before this authority had come to Bahrain.
The Day of Ashura (Arabic: عاشوراء ʻĀshūrā’; Urdu: عاشورہ; Persian: عاشورا; Turkish: Aşure Günü) is on the 10th day of Muharram in the Islamic calendar and marks the climax of the Mourning of Muharram.
It is commemorated by Shi'a Muslims as a day of mourning for the martyrdom of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Muhammad and son of Imam Ali (PBUT) and the third Shia Imam at the Battle of Karbala on 10 Muharram in the year 61 AH (in AHc: October 9, and in AHt: October 10, 680 CE).
In some Shi'a regions of Muslim countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Lebanon, and Bahrain, the Commemoration of Husayn ibn Ali has become a national holiday and most ethnic and religious communities participate in it. Even in predominantly Hindu majority but secular country like India, Ashura (10th day in the month of Muharram) is a public holiday.
