(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Bahraini Salafi Adel Almawdah called on the Gulf Cooperation Council – Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar and UAE -- to rescue Jordan from what he described as a popular movement created to overthrown Jordan’ monarchy.Protests in Jordan erupted after a raise in fuel prices. For the first time protesters were demanding for King Abdullah of Jordan to step down. The move sent shockwaves throughout the Gulf States as they saw the “threat” as too real to be ignored.Alayam newspaper quoted Almawedah - a member of Salafist Alasalah Association – as saying “All Gulf countries need to provide urgent assistance to Jordan … with no postponement - as to prevent the fall of the regime.” He suggested the GCC could subsidize Jordan’s energy needs to let the situation blow over without further escalation. He warned that if the GCC was to be “lazy or complacent” in its reaction, as did Middle Eastern regimes during the Arab Spring – Egypt, Libya and Yemen – they could soon face angry mob on their front doors. He associated the opposition movement in Jordan to a “fire than could spread and engulf the region.”/129
