Tunisian president: "We took our revolutionary lessons from the Palestinian people"

Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki said the Arab nation and the Tunisian people are more supportive of the Palestinian cause than ever, especially following the Arab spring uprisings.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki said the Arab nation and the Tunisian people are more supportive of the Palestinian cause than ever, especially following the Arab spring uprisings.

Marzouki made his remarks in an opening speech during the international conference on the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails that kicked off on Saturday in the Tunisian capital.

He hailed the Palestinian people and their fortitude, and said they were the first people who gave the Tunisians precious lessons about the revolution.

The president stressed that Israel have always sent a negative message to the whole world and the Arabs in particular that its peace with the Palestinians must be a surrender, but this conference answers that the peace can only be peace and Israel should prepare for this and not for war.

The president also called on the world to mobilize their efforts to find a solution to the Palestinian cause and warned that the persistent absence of a solution might lead to a never-ending war in the region.

He highlighted the issue of Palestinian prisoners and said that the Tunisian leadership would never forget them or their families.
