Nahjolbalagheh to be rendered into 40 languages

Head of the 20th International Quran Exhibition has announced the Culture Ministry’s decision to translate Nahjolbalagheh into 40 languages.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Hujatoleslam Hamid Mohammadi made the above announcement at the first Quran and Nahjolbalagheh conference held on the sidelines of the 20th International Quran Exhibition.

In his address, Mohammadi stressed the magnificence of Nahjolbalagheh and the ignorance towards the book which has caused the overlooking of its invaluable content.

“It is, indeed, the true brother of the holy Quran because it entails sublime interpretations of Quranic verses. It should be regarded as a real university for humans as it teaches Malek Ashtar the way of ruling and teaches Komeil supreme ethical principles and teaches Aghil justice lessons.”

Compiled by Seyyed Razi, the book contains 241 sermons by Imam Ali, 480 quotations from him and 79 letters of the imam to various personages.

He went on to say that the level of acquaintance to the book among the elites in our country should be the same Martyr Motahari’s to the book. “Nahjolbalagheh has the potential to attract youngsters and adolescents; however, there are so many deficiencies in conveying its content to it audience,” he further added.

He highlighted the translation of the Bible into over 25 hundred languages and Nahjolbalagheh with all its greatness is translated into 20 languages only. “The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance has an all-out plan for translation of the holy Quran and Nahjolbalagheh into various languages and Nahjolbalagheh will be translated into 40 languages. I believe that the book can be the focal point of 140 scientific and specialized fields of study.”

The 20th International Quran Exhibition will run through August 15, 2012 at Tehran's Grand Imam Khomeini Prayer Ground.
