(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Bahraini protesters have once again held anti-regime demonstrations in defiance of a heavy security crackdown.Saudi-backed regime forces fired tear gas and stun grenades to disperse the crowd in the village of Ekr on Saturday night. Several protesters were arrested during the demonstration.Bahraini forces also attacked protesters in the capital Manama.Bahrain’s revolution began in mid-February 2011, when the people, inspired by the popular revolutions that toppled the dictators of Tunisia and Egypt, started holding massive demonstrations. The Bahraini government promptly launched a brutal crackdown on the peaceful protests and called in Saudi-led Arab forces from neighboring Persian Gulf states to help crack down on the demonstrations.A report published by the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry in November 2011 found that the Al Khalifa regime had used “excessive force” in the campaign of suppression and accused Manama of torturing political activists, politicians, and protesters.Bahrainis hold King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa responsible for the death and arrest of protesters. They have vowed to continue their protests until their demands for an elected government and an end to rights violations are met. /129
