Al-Wefaq: Bahrain Celebrates World Teachers Day while Education is at its Worst Era

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society stressed that the Educational process in Bahrain is facing the biggest setback ever in its history due to the regime's oppressive and tyrannical mentality that is ready to perpetrate different sorts of violations against teachers as well as students.

In a statement released on the anniversary of the World Teachers Day ( 5th October, 2012) Al-Wefaq stated that the Educational process in Bahrain is now dominated by a ' Security Establishment' called " Ministry of Education" – it played a major role in the educational process setback in Bahrain, after it had been developed by its outstanding national academics. The ministry chose to play the police role rather than an educational role, by suspending teachers for taking prodemocracy stances, punishing them through salary-cuts for freely expressing their opinions and putting teachers and students in prisons.

Al-Wefaq indicated  that the Ministry of Education has honored teachers through ongoing arbitrarily dismissals and more salary-cuts. To date, these outrageous practices are ongoing and have become typical practices of all the regime's establishments to punish the people for their pro-democracy stances.

The regime has launched war on all civil societies and the Bahraini Teachers Association is no exception. Mahdi Abu-Deeb, Chairman of the BTA, is still held as a hostage by the regime while other members are facing sham trials in civil courts .

Violations perpetrated by the Ministry of Education  against teachers are recognized as a typical behavior of the ministry, that fights the outstanding committed academics in their careers, sets inspection committees and tries teachers' consciences. These academics have been replaced with people who are not qualified and have no experience in the educational process and this has led to negative drawbacks in the educational system in Bahrain.

The teachers in Bahrain are experiencing the worst era of the educational process since last year, and if this situation goes on it will lead to catastrophic setbacks because of the vindictive plan that was set by the regime and implemented by the Ministry of Education.

The educational system will not revive unless an elected government replaces the current assigned government, which is  the key solution for the current educational dilemma. An elected Government that is responsible and able of building a better homeland that is capable of handling itself by itself.

To conclude, the demands raised by the people of Bahrain that call for a democratic transition, dignity and pride, are all legitimate demands and the people will not abandon them, despite all the regime's oppressive  efforts to stop them. The brutal crackdown that is taking place will not turn the people backwards and the people are insistent on reaching democracy in order to put into action the universal principle, 'The people are the source of all powers'.
