(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Indonesians have staged a demonstration outside the American Embassy in the capital Jakarta over the blasphemous anti-Islam film made by the US, saying the movie is a declaration of ‘war’.
"This film insulted our prophet and we condemn it. The film is a declaration of war," protesters said on Friday.
The protest comes as Muslims nations are brimming with anger at the US for allowing the production of the blasphemous video. The film insults Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and depicts Islam as an oppressive religion.
On Thursday, Indonesia’s President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono denounced the blasphemous movie that insults the holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and depicts Islam as an oppressive religion.
"This is a very regrettable incident for two reasons," his spokesman Teuku Faizasyah stated. "First is the element of blasphemy, and second is the repercussion that it has had. We truly regret that lives were lost."
He was referring to the death of US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other consulate staff members on Tuesday after angry demonstrators stormed the consulate building in Benghazi.
The anti-Islam film has drawn condemnation from several countries including Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Pakistan, the Vatican in Rome, Somalia and Sudan.
