(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Egypt’s President Mohammed Morsi has appointed Atef Salem al-Ahl as the new Egyptian ambassador to the occupied Palestinian territories.The new envoy arrived in the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv on Sunday.He is regarded as Egypt’s fifth ambassador to Tel Aviv and the first after the Muslim Brotherhood came into power in June.The new Egyptian ambassador, who was formerly the Counsel-General in Eilat, will replace Yasser Reda as his four-year term just finished.Al-Ahl is expected to officially begin his term after presenting his papers of accreditation to Israeli President Shimon Peres later this month, Israeli sources said.He studied communications and political science at Cairo University and had been formerly posted to Russia, Thailand, China, Holland and Mali.Egypt’s ties with Israel have been uncertain since former dictator Hosni Mubarak was ousted last year after the country’s revolution. /129
