(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A delegation of 11 Egyptian political figures from across the political spectrum arrived late Tuesday to the besieged Gaza Strip, Egypt's official news agency MENA reported.
The trip, intended to show solidarity with the Palestinian cause, comes following an invitation from the Palestinian Association of University Professors.
Association head Hossam Edwin pointed out that the Egyptian delegation included several notable figures, including members of Egypt's April 6 Youth Movement, which played a prominent role in last year's Tahrir Square uprising.
The names of delegation members, meanwhile, have yet to be revealed.
During the four days in which the delegation is expected to remain in the besieged coastal enclave, delegates will attend a number of lectures and meetings with several prominent Palestinian intellectuals and figures.
Edwin stressed the need for more such Egyptian initiatives aimed at expressing support for the Palestinian people and their ongoing resistance against Israeli occupation and siege.
