Bahrain: Ongoing oppression and endless violation prove the regime is not serious about reform

In a statement Bahraini opposition group, Al Wefaq National Islamic Society, said the pace of oppression and dictatorship is on the rise and reaching all corners of the state including in political decision-making.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In a statement Bahraini opposition group, Al Wefaq National Islamic Society, said the pace of oppression and dictatorship is on the rise and reaching all corners of the state including in political decision-making. Despite dominating the legislative and the executive powers, the regime has now gone beyond and is attempting to dismantle civil society and replace it with pro-regime loyalists, to be controlled by the tribal ruling family. Al Wefaq stated that the regime is still fabricating lies and stories to mislead the international community through the launch of massive campaigns to present a false image of what is happening on the ground. Bahrain has been unstable and not a day has passed without witnessing injuries from the suppression of regime forces and now the regime is no longer permitting anyone to freely express their opinion.     This regime speaks no language but the language of violence. Freedom of expression is being targeted in all it’s forms, with brutal suppression, chasing and arresting anyone who peacefully protest or expresses their opinion.Al Wefaq said the regime is still committing the same violations that were documented in the BICI report. The regime has ignored the recommendations of the BICI and not implemented them at all, as well as paying no attention to the recommendations made at the United Nations UPR in May.Al Wefaq stated that the international community must live up to its responsibility to provide safety to the unarmed people of Bahrain. The regime is tyrannically controlling the future of the Bahraini people who rightfully demand democratic transition. The people must be the source of all powers. All the of the points stated above are clear indications that prove the Bahraini regime is not serious about responding to the people’s demands for democratic transition./129
