(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Al Wefaq welcomes the calls for dialogue from Mr. Alistair Burt, UK Middle East Minister, and Michael Posner, Assistant of US State Department, during their recent visits to Bahrain. They urged for an inclusive serious dialogue that is capable of responding to the aspirations of all Bahraini people. Al Wefaq emphasized, “We, along with other opposition parties, continue to call for a serious dialogue, without conditions from either side. We are ready to sit at the dialogue table, as the political future of Bahrain is an important part of our strategic vision. We believe that the only way to resolve the crisis is to start a serious dialogue, discussing how to realise the aspirations of all people in Bahrain.” Al Wefaq praises the insistent and continuous international calls for such a dialogue, in line with what was stated by Mr. Burt and Mr. Posner. “These calls are in the same context of our demand to immediately implement the BICI recommendations in full, as well as the United Nations UPR recommendations that were submitted last month in Geneva. Only the authorities are responsible for a lack of progress on these international human rights demands.” “There must be a serious reform of the security services in order to reflect the social diversity of Bahrain, so all Bahraini’s can live in security and safety, without marginalising any social component, as recommended by Mr. Bassiouni.” We support the call of Mr. Posner to hold to account those responsible for violations and abuses outlined in the BICI, including those senior leaders to end the current impunity enjoyed by human rights abusers and to limit the possibility for future violations. Al Wefaq expressed it’s agreement with the international community in condemning the sentences given to the medics on Thursday that confirms the necessity of judicial reform in order to end the injustice suffered by a large sector of the population. Al Wefaq stressed on proceeding with it’s national political aims, in partnership with other national parties, to help Bahrain to become a country of justice, citizenship, partnership, pluralism, freedom, rights and the equal distribution of wealth, which requires a political system based on the people as the source of all authorities./129
