(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - We firmly insist upon the national independence of Bahrain that was originally achieved through the democratic means of a popular referendum. No one has the right to influence the sovereignty and independency of Bahrain, under any circumstances or through any auspices. Bahrain is an Arabic, Islamic state as defined by both the United Nations and the will of the people and this is not a matter to be questioned. The independence of Bahrain and its full sovereignty on it’s territory, both land and sea, as well as it’s internal affairs, are to be determined by the indigenous people, including both Sunnis and Shiites, excluding those illegally naturalised. The people of Bahrain have the right to determine any future decisions of unions or such like through a national referendum. We therefore warn the authorities of its attempts to avert from the political demands of the people by taking the country into a local and regional sectarian maze. The proposed union is yet another attempt from the authorities to keep it’s monopoly on power, even though it would have the effect to divide the Bahraini community. We demand an immediate and serious response to the people’s rightful demands for a democratic transition. It is time the constitutional concept that the ‘people are the source of all powers’ be truly implemented. The people must have the ability to freely and transparently elect their legislative and executive authorities through fair elections./129
