(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Mehmanparast made the remarks on Tuesday in response to Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal who has urged Iran to keep out of Saudi-Bahraini affairs.
According to AFP, Faisal said on Monday, “Iran has nothing to do with what happens between the two countries, even if it develops into a unity.”
Persian Gulf Arab leaders, at a summit in Riyadh on Monday, weighed the issue of establishing a closer political union.
One hundred and ninety Iranian MPs issued a statement on Monday strongly condemning the decision made by Persian Gulf Arab states to discuss the proposal that may lead to the formation of a union between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
“The solution to Bahrain’s crisis is to heed the people’s legitimate demands and respond to them. And any kind of foreign intervention or ill-considered plans, (drawn up) without taking account of the people’s views, will only deepen and widen the existing wounds,” Mehmanparast said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran sees the real power of regional countries in their enjoying the support of the majority of the people and believes that regional cooperation within this framework will serve the interests of the Muslim world and foil the Zionist regime’s divisive plots,” he added.
