Egypt to conduct minor cabinet reshuffle

Egypt's military rulers are to carry out a minor cabinet reshuffle on Thursday, state television reported.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Two weeks before presidential elections, the ministers of higher education, manpower, culture and parliamentary affairs are to be replaced in the first shake-up under Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri since his government was appointed in December, the broadcaster reported. No reasons were given for the reshuffle.

The parliament suspended its sessions last month for a week to protest the junta's refusal to sack the government, seen as incompetent by lawmakers from the Muslim Brotherhood faction, which holds nearly half of the parliamentary seats.

On May 23-24, Egypt is to hold its first presidential vote since a popular revolt toppled Hosny Mubarak from power.
