Qaradhawi's son decries situation in Bahrain

Abdul-Rahman Yusuf al-Qaradhawi, an Egyptian-Qatari poet and third son to the popular and prominent cleric al- Qaradhawi, condemned the situation in Bahrain, saying "there were calls for justice for several years but in vain as the regime ignored its people’s calls.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Currently, they're demonstrating and calling for change peacefully, and it's their rights."

In the seventh day Egyptian news paper he reported that although the Shia denomination was indeed majoritarian in Bahrain, Sunnis were in control of everything, depriving Shia from their most basic civil rights.  Worst of all he noted that the King was presently handing out Bahraini nationality to Sunni foreigners based on their religion and not their allegiance to Bahrain in order to re-establish some sort of balance in between the Shia and Sunni community and keep the upper hand, which in his views was unfair.

He inquired about whether indeed Egyptian soldiers in Bahrain had come to torture Shia in exchange for an astronomical pay-out from the regime.

He noted that calling the Bahraini movement a Revolution, an uprising or anything else for that matter was not important, urging people to consider one’s need for Freedom and Democracy and above all Justice.
