UK pushes to secure ties with Bahrain

Britain has embarked on a fresh round of talks with Bahrain over its relations with Manama amidst UK-assisted brutal crackdown on anti-regime protesters in the sheikdom.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - As the ruling Al Khalifa regime in Bahrain, armed to the teeth by the British government, continues to suppress protesters, a round-table entitled ‘External Factors Influencing British-Bahraini Relations: prospects for trans-regional cooperation’ gets underway in the Bahraini capital, Manama.

The round-table is mainly focused on the Bahraini regime’s cooperation with Britain’s Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) as the British defense and security think tank, hailed by the British queen for its ‘valuable work,’ will advise the Al Khalifa regime.

The round-table comes as the Bahraini regime forces, using British military equipment and supervised by former Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner, John Yates, brutally cracked down on protesters on the anniversary of the Bahraini people’s revolution.

British-made teargas and stun grenades and Britain’s £1 million worth of arms sales to the Al Khalifa regime are to be complemented by the advice by the RUSI.
