There is Nothing Like Boko Haram: African Shia Leader

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On Sunday, the fifth of February 2012, a reporter from France 24 TV visited Sheikh Zakzaky (H) at the Baiyyatullah Husainiyyah, Zaria, Nigeria and had an interview with him.The interiew came on the second day of the annual Muslim Unity Week being organized by the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.The reporter asked about the objective of the Unity Week, which Sheik Zakzaky informed her was to foster unity and understanding among the various schools of thought in Islam. He said, the choice of  the period was not accidental, but to coincide with the  birthday of the Holy Prophet viewed by scholars, saying while some were of the view that it was on the 12th others say it was on the 17th of the month of Rabi’ul Awwal. “The short period between 12th and 17th was therefore set aside for unity among Muslims”, he added.Responding to question on how the Islamic Movement started, Sheikh Zakzaky said the Movement started during his university days at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. “It started with few members, then rose to thousands and by the grace of Allah we are now counting millions”.On the Boko Haram issue, Sheikh Zakzaky said there is nothing like Boko Haram, but a strategy by enemies and people with sinister motive to justify the siphoning of the country’s wealth. “They have chosen to use our religion, ridicule Islam to justify their action. By the grace of Allah it will not last, as people are beginning to realise the conspiracy”./129
