Center to be found for Quranic translations

Head of Tarjoman Vahy institute said Oghaf and Charity Affairs Organization is trying to form a center for translation of the holy Quran into various languages by the 80 foreign students that are currently studying in Iran.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - In the unveiling ceremony of the Chinese translation of the holy Quran held yesterday (Sunday, February 5, 2012) at Oghaf and Charity Affairs Organization, Hujatoleslam Mohammad Naghdi said, "Bible and the Holy Book are translated into as many as 2500 languages while Quran has only been rendered into less than 200 languages so far."

The Oghaf organization enjoys the greatest Quranic treasury, he added, and grounds should be made for the people of all languages to read the holy Quran.

He went on to say that some 100 years ago the holy Quran was rendered into Chinese for the first time by non-Muslims. Some time later the book was translated by a Sunni Muslim and no comprehensive version was provided like the recent one.

He further added that he Islamic Republic of Iran reckons Quran as the source of unity and integrity for all Muslims of the world.
