The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Congratulates Muslim World on the Occasion of the Birth of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH)

“Today is the anniversary of the birth of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). On this great occasion, I would like to express my sincere congratulations to the entire Muslim Ummah, praying to Almighty Allah that this occasion may be one of good and happiness for Muslims around the world.”

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On the advent of Eid Al Mawlid (the Birth of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Prof. Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu has addressed the following message to the Muslim world:

This is an occasion for us to visualize the Prophet’s message which brought a new dawn for humanity as a whole, a message of mercy for mankind that complements the righteous religion which Allah Almighty revealed to mankind. This religion is based on the unity of the Creator and the primacy of the values of justice, human dignity and equality among all people.

On this glorious occasion which is observed by all Muslims, we recall the pure life of the Prophet in order to draw lessons and guidance for our life and look for inspiration for a stronger faith and greater solidarity among Muslims.

The Muslim Ummah, which is going through alarming difficulties, should recall this memory and think deeply about its current situation in order to find out how Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) managed to cut his way through the thorns and overcome the difficulties in order to convey the message of Islam, make the faithful speak with one voice and make them brothers after they were enemies.  Therefore, I take this opportunity to call for strengthening the values of Islamic brotherhood among Muslims and creating conducive conditions for their unity; for in unity there is strength.

Today Muslims are in dire need to close ranks, defend the supreme interests of the Ummah, particularly saving Al Aqsa Mosque which was blessed by Allah, and to support our Palestinian brothers and enable them to restore their usurped rights.

I pray to Almighty Allah for many happy returns with the Muslim Ummah regaining its outstanding position among the nations of the world and that we achieve our goals of solidarity, progress and prosperity”.
