Regime Tightly Blocks Manama, Kills Bahrainis

Three Bahrainis were martyred as the regime staged a tight siege in different areas across the country, in an attempt to prevent Bahrainis from sharing in a pro-democracy rally.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Sources told al-Manar TV that three Bahrainis were martyred on Wednesday.

The first died after being tortured by regime forces, while the second inhaled toxic gas as security forces stage a tear gas bomb attack, al-Manar TV reported.

The third died of injureis he sustained earlier, the tv added.

Meanwhile, a source within the opposition told al-Manar Website that regime forces have been since Tuesday night blocking roads in order to prevent protesters from taking part in the rally.

Opposition groups, including prominent movement, al-Wefaq, urged Bahrainis to take part in “Legitimacy for People” rally, which was planned to take place on Wednesday in the capital, Manama.

“Today the opposition is planning a protest and the security forces are preventing demonstrators from participating. The capital is completely blocked”, Ibrahim Madhoun, the head of al-Wefaq media office told our website.“Diraz, Sanabis (near Pearl Square), Sehla, Abu Gowa and Abu Subea all are blocked”.

On the other hand, the opposition was determined to go on with the rally, “even if there were clashes” Madhoun said.“Hundreds of security forces are deployed across villages”.

On its page on the Facebook, al-Wefaq posted videos and pictures of the unrest, including images of police officers in the villages of Sitra and Bani Jamra, dressed in full riot gear and hurling objects, including metal rods, at a small crowd of young men.

In another image posted on the page, plumes of tear gas can be seen wafting through the night skies over the town of Bani Jamra.

For its part, authorities claimed protesters had blocked roads in several villages, adding that security forces made several arrests.

Public Security Chief Major General Tariq al-Hassan said "vandals blocked road and threw petrol bombs during Tuesday night clashes”.

Hassan said security forces made "several arrests" in villages.
