The African shia Islamic Movement marked Arabeen of Imam Husain (AS) on Saturday the 20th of Safar 1433(14/1//12) at Husainiyyah Baqiyyatullah Zaria. The celebration was attended by thousands of people from far and near.

Some of them trek to Zaria on foot from various places such Kano, Kaduna and Jos. Delivering his lecture, the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sayyid Ibraheem Zakzaky described the Arba’een of the Imam Husain (AS) as one of the signs of faith adding that whosoever feels that  commemoration of  Karbala tragedy is Shia affair only should visit his faith as it has question mark. Inevitably he is saying that he has no concern about the Museeba of Ahulbayt(AS) and Prophet(SAWA), he noted.

Sayyid Zakzaky further expressed that the issue of Karbala remains a symbol of unity for the humanity due to its numerous lessons. He also spoke on the significance of 40 while referring to some verses in the holy Qur’an which made mentioned of forty like the verse in which Prophet Musa (AS) was asked  to complete fasting to 40 days. There are similar verses too, Sayyid noted.

The Leader also explained how the tragedy of Karbala revived true Islam to date. There are,  at all time, ‘Yazids’ who are always against commemoration of Karbala and visit of Imam Husain(AS).

On Pilgrimage to Karbala Sayyid Zakzaky noted that the pilgrims to Karbala are increasing every year with an official figure of 15-18 million pilgrims this year.

After the sunset prayers mourning was performed followed by Ziyara of Imam Husain(AS).
