(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The body of Yusef Ahmed Abbas, who was reported missing last Wednesday, was found on the shores of Amwaj Island on Friday.
Bahraini activists say regime forces tortured Abbas to death in prison.
Bahraini authorities, however, deny the accusation and say the public prosecution has commissioned a coroner to conduct a post mortem and reveal the cause of death.
Meanwhile, Bahraini demonstrators continue protests against the ruling Al Khalifa regime despite its violent crackdown.
Many health workers, teachers, opposition figures and human rights activists are still facing trial or serving prison terms over participation in anti-government demonstrations in Bahrain.
Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds more arrested or fired from their jobs since the beginning of the popular uprising in Bahrain in February 2011.
On Wednesday, the trial of five policemen accused of torturing to death two detainees was postponed to January 30 by a Bahraini military court.
Last Friday, Amnesty International said reports about the torture of an 18-year-old student, Hassan Oun, in detention by Bahraini police “is yet another blow to Bahrain's promises of reform.”
