Muslim Brotherhood denies backroom deal with military council

The Muslim Brotherhood has denied that they made a secret pact with the ruling military council regarding the upcoming presidential elections

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Gomaa Amin, the deputy of the Brotherhood’s Supreme Guide, said that there is no pact between the Supreme Council of Armed Forces (SCAF) regarding backing a presidential candidate that the Brotherhood supports.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Gomaa said that the Brotherhood would support any candidate the Egyptian people choose, and if the Egyptians choose a Copt then they would support that decision.

Amin also noted that the Brotherhood is still waiting for an official list of presidential candidates to be announced so that they can decide which candidate to back. The group has remained adamant in their post-revolution stance not to field a presidential candidate in the coming election.
