New English Translation of Quran Released in Egypt

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A new translation of the Noble Quran into English has been released in Egypt. The new version was published by the Dar Al-Shoruq publications in Cairo, Al-Shoruq newspaper reports.Rendering the translation was started by Ahmed Hamed, late founder of microbiology in Egypt. Ahmed Hamed did one-fifth of the translation before he died. Then, his son Muhammad Hamed took over and finished the rendering.Born in 1928, Muhammad Hamed is a pediatrician and former head of the military medical academy.In translating the Quran, he has referred to different sources on Quran interpretation, Waqf, recitation styles, etc.The new English translation of the Quran has been published under the supervision of the Department of Research, Writing and Translation, affiliated to Egypt’s Al-Azhar University. /129
