Egypt protests continue despite army offer

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Thousands of protesters continue to occupy Cairo’s Tahrir Square and clash with police on the streets in other cities of Egypt despite an address from Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi.Police have been using tear gas against protesters who have been throwing stones.After days of violent clashes, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi accepted the resignation of the incumbent Cabinet, set presidential elections for the first half of next year and expressed readiness to hand over power to civilian rulers through a referendum.Many protesters said that the concessions were not enough.Clashes have also been reported in several other Egyptian cities, including Alexandria and Ismailia, where more than 40 people have been killed over the past four days./129
