Relation between "Islam and Fine Arts" analyzed

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Latest book on Islam analyzes the artistic origins in Islam, providing the chance for artists to look at this holy religion through the lenses of fine arts.

"Islam and Fine Arts" is the latest publication which explains variety of arts, their interaction with Islam and the way religious themes have appeared in artistic presentations.

Written by Seyyed Abol Hassan Omrani, the ways fine arts affect the society to create a spiritual atmosphere, the relation between religion and performing arts, modern mass media and also the way for realization of high objectives of religion are among the topics discussed in this book.

While this book praises the sacredness of arts and its accordance with human nature, it denounces arts when it is merely a means of non-human enjoyments.

A unique feature of this recent publication is the answer it gives to the question that, " Is Islamic arts confined within a specific geographical area?"

The author proves that religions at the time of their appearance were not accompanied with a form of arts saying that, "Should we accept that about divine religions, then we see Islam appearing with Qur'an which is not sent with artistic objectives and its attraction mainly lies in its spiritual beauty but the beauty of its verses is manifest of a perfect style of art."

Hence, sixth century is witness to appearance of a prophet whose miracle is a work of art and both friends and foes recognize it and confess to its dazzling beauties.

According to the author, meaning of arts in Islamic thinking is something beyond artistic movements derived from substantive principles of secular arts.
