(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - On Thursday, protesters chanted slogans in support of dozens of imprisoned women, who have been arrested during the Saudi-backed crackdown on the popular uprising against King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and his clan.
The activists said they were using anything big enough to block roads, and that they had already barricaded several main roads and motorways, causing a heavy traffic jam.
In addition, the protesters said they had blocked the main highway leading to the international airport in the capital.
Since mid-February, thousands of anti-regime protesters have been staging regular demonstrations in the streets of Bahrain.
On March 14, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates invaded the country to assist the Bahraini government in its crackdown on the peaceful protests.
Scores of people have been killed, some of them while in custody, and hundreds more detained since the uprising began.
