Egyptians celebrate Eid al-Adha

Egyptian Muslims Sunday started celebrating Eid al-Adha or the feast of sacrifice by performing the Eid prayers. After the prayers, the wealthy Egyptians had sheep and cattle slaughtered in a sacrificial ritual.

After the prayers, the wealthy Egyptians had sheep and cattle slaughtered in a sacrificial ritual. Since the early mornings, revellers have flocked to public parks while others have headed to the Nile for feluca (boat) rides.The holidaymakers have been encouraged by the fine weather despite fog on roads.Eid al-Adha is one of the holiest Muslim occasions and is marked by a public holiday in Egypt, a predominantely Muslim country./129
