(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Official results on the first democratic elections that took place in Tunisia after Zein Al-Abiddine bin Ali’s ouster are expected to come out Tuesday, but preliminary information have revealed that the An-Nahda (Renaissance) Islamic Movement has won most of the votes.The secular center-left Progressive Democratic Party has confirmed its defeat Monday, while An-Nahda movement has reportedly won with around 40% of the votes.“The Congress for the Republic” party gained 15% of the votes, the “Democratic Forum for Labour and Liberties” party gained 12%, while the “Public List” party gained 10% of the votes.Regarding the parliamentary seats, An-Nahda movement won nine out of 18 seats, “the Congress for the Republic” party won four seats, while the “Democratic Forum for Labor and Liberties” party won three seats. In contrast, each of the “Modernist Democratic Pole” and the “public List” won one seat.As soon as the leaks came out, An-Nahda executive office member Ali Al-Areed stated that his movement is ready to form an alliance with the “Congress for the Republic” party and the “Democratic Forum for Labor and Liberties” party, explaining that these parties’ political views are not far from An-Nahda’s.In this context An-Nahda movement assured that its main concern is to rebuilt stability in the country, and to create favorable conditions that would enhance investments.On the other hand, the secular parties such as the “Modernist Democratic Pole” and the “Progressive Democratic Party” who have always opposed the Islamic movement, said they will form a strong opposition that will make efforts so that a constitution that meets the aspirations of the Tunisian people is put.In addition, the parties assured their respect for the Tunisian people’s choice./129
