Malaysia: Pahang Sultan Wants Mosques To Strengthen Muslim Unity

State ruler Sultan Ahmad Shah made a call for mosques to be used in a more systematic manner to strengthen unity among Muslims regardless of their political ideology.

PEKAN, Malaysia (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - State ruler Sultan Ahmad Shah made a call for mosques to be used in a more systematic manner to strengthen unity among Muslims regardless of their political ideology.He said this at the opening of the RM14.4mil Sultan Ahmad Shah Al-Haj Mosque here.The Sultan added that mosques are also institutions which can enable Muslims to garner knowledge and obtain guidance.“The responsibility to make mosques institutions of knowledge and guidance rests with the mosque officials and committee members who have to be dynamic and of calibre,” he said.He added that mosque officials and committee members should have a wide knowledge of Islam and be creative enough to organise lectures, forums and dialogues of a religious nature to consolidate the role of mosques and strengthen the faith of Muslims.Sultan Ahmad Shah also called on the Islamic religious department to monitor the development of mosques to ensure that they are not misused by individuals or groups bent on poisoning the minds of Muslims.The opening ceremony was also attended by members of the royal house including Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob. /129
