(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Bahraini anti-regime protesters have held a demonstration in the northern village of Dair, calling for the release of hundreds of detainees. The demonstrators took to the streets in the village, which is near the capital Manama, on Sunday, chanting slogans against the ruling Al Khalifa regime. The protest rally came as the Saudi-backed regime forces arrested 10 anti-government protesters in several cities across the country on Saturday. Meanwhile, Bahraini top cleric Sheikh Isa Qassim said during his Friday prayers sermon in the town of Diraz that detained opposition leader Hassan Mushaima has been denied treatment in jail despite his “frightening” health condition. Last week, five opposition groups in Bahrain, including the influential al-Wefaq party, called for an elected government, describing it as the only solution to end months of anti-government protests in the country. In their declaration, named “The Manama Paper,” the opposition groups demanded restructuring of the political system in the country. Since the beginning of anti-government demonstrations in Bahrain in February, scores of people have been killed and hundreds more have been arrested in the brutal crackdown of the Saudi-backed regime forces on peaceful protesters./129
