Bahraini opposition: Al-Khalifa regime blocks popular demands

The Bahraini regime is ignoring the legitimate demands of its own citizens who want real democratic elections in the Persian Gulf sheikhdom of Bahrain.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The Bahraini regime is ignoring the legitimate demands of its own citizens who want real democratic elections in the Persian Gulf sheikhdom of Bahrain.

In an exclusive interview,  Ebrahim Al Madhoon, Bahraini opposition member, tells us about the recent developments unfolding in Bahrain.

Q: How do you evaluate and assess the situation developments unfolding in Bahrain these days?

Al Madhoon: In the Name of God, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

I think Bahrain is facing a difficult period because the Bahraini regime is killing people and burying the mosques.

What the Bahraini government is doing no other region in the world is doing against their citizens because the citizens are demanding freedom for the people, the parliament and the elected government, and unfortunately this regime is denying the demands from the people.

Particularly, in the past two days, it was unbelievable because the police are killing people. Even those pictures that are being shown on the television and everything, no other country is doing anything against the resistance.

Q: How did you witness the parliamentary by elections? There are conflicting reports that some are saying only 1/5th of the Bahrainis took part in that election. But the government is saying otherwise.

Al Madhoon: I think the government is lying because this election is not for the Bahrainis. The Bahrainis are demanding for a full-authority parliament. This parliament is not touching the demand for the Bahrainis.

Unfortunately, the government is ignoring all these demands. That's why this election is showing the count of the citizens when it reached 82.6 percent. No other country in the world gets this number.

This is how the government is dealing with Bahraini people. They are ignoring our demands and they want to show the world that we are dealing within the parliament. This parliament doesn't mean anything for the Bahrainis. The percentage in the elections which represents these people is below average.
