Islamic mysticism 1st Int’l Forum begins in Cairo

The first international forum on Islamic mysticism began with the presence of representative of Hezbollah Secretary General on September 24 in Cairo.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The first international forum on Islamic mysticism began with the presence of representative of Hezbollah Secretary General on September 24 in Cairo.  According to Al-Ahram newspaper, the three-day program has been organized with the motto of “mysticism, a noble approach for reformation” in cooperation with Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs in Egypt under the supervision of Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar.  The opening ceremony of the forum hosted Mohammad Abdul Fadhil Al-Qawsi, Egyptian minister of endowments and Ali Jom’eh, Mufti of the country.  It has been attended by 300 intellectuals from over 35 Arab, Islamic and other countries, namely Ali Fayyadh, representing Hezbollah Secretary General, Hassan Al-Shafe’i, representative of sheikh of Al-Azhar and Usam Al-Uryan and Abdulrahman Al-Ber, representatives of Ikhvanul Muslimin Movement in Egypt.  Speaking at the forum, Sheikh Usam Zaki Ibrahim, leader of Muhammadiyyah Sect in Egypt asked for establishment of Mysticism World Union with the presence of all groups, institutions and organizations aiming to realize Muslims unity.  Mufti of Egypt, as another speaker of the program, stressed the need for a joint step to be taken by all of the institutes of civil society in line with the development of the society./129
