(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A Bahraini special court sentenced to 10 years in prison head of the teachers' union and his deputy, along with other citizens over their role in anti-regime protests, AFP reported Sunday.
“Mahdi Abu Deib and Jalila Al-Salman were convicted by the court for “national safety” as they have been “calling to forcefully overthrow the regime in union statement… They were also accused of promoting hatred to the regime and spreading false news,” the news agency reported.
“The two people were said to having used the union to instigate criminal acts like calling for sit-ins by teachers, obstructing teaching, holding protests near schools... and calling upon parents not to send their children to school,” it further reported.
