(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A GROUP of Bahraini students in Britain were allegedly threatened not to take part in by-elections, according to a human rights group.
Some are scared to vote after the threat calls, Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society secretary-general Faisal Fulad told the GDN from the UK.
The first round of voting takes place today at Bahrain's diplomatic missions around the world. "These students have received threats via text messages and phone calls by some groups opposing the elections," said Mr Fulad.
"They want these young students to boycott the polls and not to show up for voting at the embassy."
Mr Fulad said some outlawed opposition groups had also announced a gathering outside the embassy building at Knightsbridge, London. "Opposition leaders and their supporters want to gather outside the embassy at the same time, when voting is taking place."
Meanwhile, five opposition societies announced a gathering to be held on Thursday in Tubli.
Al Wefaq National Islamic Society, National Democratic Action Society, Al Ekha National Society, Islamic Action Society and National Democratic Assemblage are to take part in the rally a day before polling.
It will be held near Syed Hashim Al Tublani Mosque from 4pm.
