(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Supreme Leader's words in Tehran's Friday Prayer: "Here, I intend to recall the memory of Mohammad Jahanara, and other dear martyrs of Khoramshahr, who resisted hard against enemy…
"I was in Ahwaz those days, and saw it in person whatever happened there. No military force was in Khoramshahr, not even 10 or 5 thousand soldiers, let alone 120 thousands. There were only a few broken tanks that had been brought from Khosroabad to Khoramshahr by martyr Agharebparast - a devoted Army official - and repaired by him. This actually happened afterwards, and in the center of the city, there were no military forces. Mohammad Jahanara and our other young soldiers resisted against an Iraqi highly equipped armored division and a special forces brigade who bombarded the city with 90 heavy guns day and night for 35 days.
Heavy guns and mortars bombarded the houses in the city. Despite all this, our young soldiers resisted for 35 days, but when our soldiers laid siege to Baghdad, it surrendered after 3 days. Iranian nation, be proud of such soldiers. Also, during the Khoramshahr freeing, Basidj, Army and Revolution Guards Corps forces that were far less than Iraqi forces in the city, laid siege to it and captured about 15000 Iraqis. The eight year Imposed war is an awesome lesson. I don't know why some spare themselves the propagation of Imposed War moments that are a source of pride."
