(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - El Baradei also expressed concern over the situation in the country and voiced his concerns regarding a new revolution in Egypt.
Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak resigned on Feb.11, 2011 after 18 days of antigovernment demonstrations and riots. He handed over power to Egypt's Supreme Council of Armed Forces, which is the main governing body of the country.
Practically after Egypt's Supreme Council came to power it dissolved parliament and cancelled working of the Constitution, promising to hold elections and hand over the power to new civil leadership.
Parliamentary elections will be held in September 2011 after which according to preliminary data preparation for presidential elections will start in December.
The first judicial session on the former president, who ruled over Egypt for almost 30 years, was held in Cairo on Aug.3. According to the prosecution, Mubarak wanted to suppress peaceful demonstrations in January-February 2011 by force.
The demonstrators’ main demand was Mubarak’s resignation. Then the riots killed 850 people injuring 6,000. Mubarak may face death penalty if charge of shooting demonstrators is proved.
