(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Indonesian police in Jakarta have deployed 18,477 officers to secure the capital of the world's most populous Muslim country the night before and the day of Idul Fitri religious celebrations, which officially falls on Wednesday.
Jakarta police spokesman Sr. Comr. Baharudin Djafar said members of the National Army (TNI) took part in securing Idul Fitri celebrations in the city as well.
"We have coordinated with the TNI," he added on Tuesday.
He added that police personnel guarded mosques as well as the streets in lieu of the celebrations.
The government previously announced that Idul Fitri would fall on Wednesday. Although several Muslim groups have set Idul Fitri celebrations for Tuesday, the rest will flock to mosques to conduct their prayers on Wednesday.
Eid ul-Fitr, or Idul Fitri as it is known in Indonesia, is a Muslim holiday that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting.
