(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Birnin-Kebbi-Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammad Bashar, yesterday called for unity and understanding among Muslims in the country.
Alhaji Bashar, who is also the chairman of the state Council of Chiefs,made the appeal in his Sallah message to thousands of Muslims at theEid-el Fitr praying ground in Birnin Kebbi.
He pointed out that peaceful coexistence was necessary for the rapid development of the country.
Gwandu Emirate in Kebbi celebrated Sallah, yesterday, following the reported sighting of the moon at Bunza town and some local government areas in the state.
The area thus became the first to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Fitr in the country.
The emir condemned the recent attack on innocent people by a religious sect in the country.
He said without unity and mutual understanding among the people, there would be no meaningful development.
The emir said as the custodian of peace and tradition, traditional rulers would not relent in telling the truth by upholding societal values. He equally appealed to parents to keep a tab on their children, especially the type of company they keep.
He also admonished them to discourage underage driving by their children in order to save lives.
