Int’l Quds Day Marked in Tunisia for the First Time

For the first time, the Tunisians mark the International Holy Quds Day after they achieved victory in the revolution.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - For the first time, the Tunisians mark the International Holy Quds Day after they achieved victory in the revolution.  According to Al-Alam, Khalil Shahin, a political analyst, said during the reign of Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Tunisians could not hold rallies on the day.  He said the International Quds Day is an important occasion for the Islamic world and all the nations of the world. “It is held to reiterate support for the people of Palestine and Quds. It does not belong to Palestinians only, but is a day for all free-thinking people of the world.”  Mr. Shahin added that this year, the International Quds Day has special significance because it is marked at a time when the Zionist regime is carrying out unprecedented attacks against Muslim and Christian sanctities in Quds. “The regime is making all out efforts to Judaize Quds and change the Islamic and Arabic identity of the city.”  He stressed that Palestinian groups and all countries in the world should give priority to the issue of Quds and oppose Zionists’ plan for destroying the city’s Palestinian identity.  Today, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, marks the International Quds Day.
