(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Hundreds gathered in Tahrir Square on Friday to march to Israel’s embassy in Cairo, where hundreds more are gathered, to demand the expulsion of Israel’s ambassador from Egypt.
The demonstrators marched around Tahrir Square carrying Egyptian flags and chanting “The People want the Israeli ambassador expelled”.
A Facebook invitation to demonstrate on Friday has been sent out calling for the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador from Egypt as a response to the killing of Egypt’s soldiers last week. It is still unclear who has sent out the call for the march but several demonstrations have been held in several places in Egypt including Cairo, Alexandria, Suez and Qalioubiya.
Following the killing of two Egyptian police officers and three soldiers by Israel on Egypt’s borders, thousands of Egyptians took the streets in anger demanding that the Israeli ambassador be expelled. An Egyptian young man also climbed 13 floors to bring down the Israeli flag in protest. Hundreds started a sit-in in front of the Israeli embassy on 19 August and tens are still occupying the sidewalks opposite the embassy.
